According to a new Realtor.com survey more than two-thirds of homebuyers who bought homes last year are very happy in their new home.

1,000 homeowners who purchased a new home during the last 12 months between March 2020 to April 1st week were surveyed by Realtor.com via HarrisX.

During the pandemic, people faced various obstacles, in the form of a competitive housing market, limitations on open houses, and showings, yet 71% of those surveyed feel buying was a good decision and 75% say their new home meets their needs.

Because now people spent larger time at home so many people focused on what they wanted from their homes and neighborhoods, and were satisfied when those needs were met.

The senior economist, Realtor.com, George Ratiu said that there was a short supply of a number of available homes for sale, buyers didn’t have many choices over the past year.

But the survey shows, pandemic buyers, feeling good about their choices

Finding happiness in a new home More than 55% of the homeowners surveyed said they found a new home that matched their need for working or schooling from home.

Not rushed, on budget, and no regrets three-quarters of the new homeowners surveyed were anyway planning to buy before the pandemic, while the balance quarter decided to purchase because of the pandemic.

Now with the shortage in inventory and homes selling at record high prices, buyers need to be quick and also compromise.

The first-time homebuyers don’t have equity from a previous home sale to use as a down payment so this is a tough time for them.

When setting out for home buying the budget needs to be considered along with the required size of the home, number of bedrooms, outdoor space, or location.
