Out of the 150 most densely populated cities in America, US News & World set out to find the best ones to live in.

According to the US Census Bureau, the FBI, the US Department of Labor, and the results of a public survey by US News & World, cities were rated as per employment prospects, quality of life, home affordability, desirability, and migration flow.

Boulder is first on the list, because it is highly desirable, gives a good quality of life, and provides job market stability.

It is situated at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, and just 30 miles from Denver city center, Boulder boasts more than 60 parks and 155 miles of hiking trails has helped to push it on the top.

The survey also noted that living in the city came with high pricing because of open space and rural land surrounding the city, which limits new housing construction leading to skyrocketing prices for existing homes.

The median home price listed in the survey at $528,833 is way below what it actually is.

The second spot is taken by Raleigh and Durham in North Carolina. It along with Chapel Hill form a tri-city, attracting Fortune 500 companies. The combined population of the city is just under two million people.

Raleigh and Durham have some fine restaurants and a strong sense of community. It boasts excellent medical care and education. Good weather, lower taxes, and good job opportunities attract people beyond North Carolina.

Huntsville scored third place, it is described as the fastest-growing metro area in Alabama.

It scored well in the housing affordability index because of its strong job market, the median home price is $192,667 and the unemployment rate is also low at 4.6%.

The schools at Huntsville have always been rated very highly and another attraction is its very low crime rate making it an ideal place to raise a family.

It has one of the highest per capita incomes in the south and the mortgage rates are also low enabling you to get a bigger house for the money.
